I, Shakia "Kia" Batten is a state and nationally certified massage therapist. I graduated from Northern Virginia School of Therapeutic Massage in 2008. Born in Richmond and raised in Northern Virginia, I moved to Hampton Roads area in August of 2014, where I now call home with my family. Coming from a multi-cultural background has given me the room to grow and mold into the woman that I am. I have a very free spirited. I am so blessed to be able to do what I love on daily basis.
I have been actively practicing as a massage therapist under a Chiropractor since the beginning of my career in 2008. I have experience in Swedish, Sports, and Prenatal massage techniques. I am an intuition massage therapist, I only can go as far as your muscles allow me to. I focus on what your needs are for relaxation, healing, or both. I decided to become an independent contractor because I wanted the freedom to be able to help my clients to the best of my ability. I love to help and being a positive influence in your life. I believe that massage is not something you do, it is a way of life.
I am passionate about health and wellness. My treatments incorporate blending Western massage techniques with focused sports massage and neuromuscular therapy depending on the needs, wants, and mood of my clients. I am dedicated to making sure that every client is satisfied with their bodywork that is being performed. I am the founder and owner of Artz of Massage LLC. Being a Massage Therapist has given me the freedom and flexibility to spend time with my family and work around my client’s fulltime schedule. It's like a dream come true that I am able to support parents, retired, and regular 9 to 5 errs. Everyone kneads a massage but being able to work around their schedule just make it so much sweeter.
